East Texas Woodturners Association is participating in the nationally sponsored Freedom Pen Program, www.freedompens.org to supply hand-turned ball point pens for all the military personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  We will make all our pens from mesquite from Texas with the band in the middle of the pen made from pieces of red, white and blue Corian glued together, cut on a bias so the colored stripes are at a 45 degree angle.  The wood, Corian and pen kits will be provided through donations by club members, other interested people and businesses.  Members will turn the mesquite into pens which will then be sent to the Freedom Pen Program for distribution the personnel overseas.  All members are encouraged to participate in the project to support our military.
